The Kalka to Shimla Railway is a UNESCO World Heritage
Site that connects the Indian plains to the ‘Queen of Hills,’ Shimla.
Built in 1903, this toy train ride is one of India’s most incredible feats of
engineering covering a staggering 102 tunnels, 864 bridges, and 919 stunning
curves.
The journey was carved through the abundance of nature
in Himachal Pradesh during British rule. The Kalka Shimla Toy train is bound to
take you back to a completely different era in history and through one of the
most scenic railway journeys in India. It’s known for its dramatic views
of the hills and surrounding villages.
